A Typical Day

For a quick way to see what the days are like at the Institute weight loss spa, take a look at the Sample Schedule.  Here, we’ll walk quickly through a day to give you the flavor.

On your first day, you’ll have a brief meeting with one of our Lifestyle Coaches to determine the best options for you over the next two weeks (or however long you have chosen to stay at our weight loss health spa).  These are suggestions based on your needs and goals:  we always give Guests the ability to make decisions during their weeks, but the Lifestyle Coaches are knowledgeable about both the program and Guests’ preferences, and their recommendations are worth considering.

On a daily basis, we get going pretty early.  If you really want EARLY, join us for a beach walk before breakfast.  This is gentle and refreshing, but it gets the body and spirit moving for a busy day.  Wear those comfortable clothes that can handle a little stretching or walking, and keep them on the rest of the day.  It’s Casual Friday every day at the Institute weight loss spa.

Breakfast begins a day of wonderful food that is good for you:  filling, nutritional, healthful.  Choose among options to make your own meals, in full knowledge of the nutritional values involved (we supply this information, too).  Sit in the dining room with whichever of your new friends you choose.

In the morning, you will have Healthy Lifestyle classes to choose among, with the advice of your Lifestyle Counselor as a starting point.  These might include demonstrations, fitness options, nutritional or lifestyle education.  At mid-morning you’ll have an opportunity for your first of two Metabo Meals™.

Lunch is our first gourmet health food experience of the day, again in our sunny dining room overlooking a lagoon and one of the fairways running through the Shipyard Plantation. This may be a weight loss spa, but is it a weight loss boot camp? Maybe not.  After lunch and after every other meal is time for you to take your Thermal Walk. Some days feature special activities for limited groups, and you will be able to sign up for those in the main building hallway.

Afternoons feature another fitness option and more educational lectures.  On some days, there is optional open time or an off-campus adventure you can take part in.  Depending on your personalized schedule you may have an open hour or two to relax and explore, or if you prefer, use the computer to check your email or business.  During every week we allow time for you to see the attractions of Hilton Head Island.  Again, there’s a mid-afternoon Metabo Meal™—you will not feel hungry at the Institute even though our cuisine is low calorie, low fat, and low on refined carbohydrates.

Our evening meal is a highlight.  Always gourmet and always healthful, you will see how creative and tasty a healthy weight loss spa meal can be.  You will also enjoy the plated service complementing our chef’s expertise.  After dinner, the time is yours unless you choose to attend an optional lecture or join some of your fellow Guests for a movie or other outing.

At the end of this busy, productive day you will end up back at your cottage, a short walk or drive through the park-like landscape of the Plantation.  Even in semi-private accommodations, you will have a private room and private bath all to yourself, and share a fully equipped kitchen, laundry, and living room.  You will have all the comforts of home and a life-changing experience in the same package.
