Hydration for a Healthy Lifestyle
Did You Know…?

Every system in your body depends on water.

Water makes up more than half of your body weight.

Your body loses water every day through sweating, exhaling, and excreting waste.  This water must be replaced for normal body function.

Your body has already lost fluid by the time you start feeling thirsty.

Dehydration occurs when your body doesn’t have enough water to function normally.

When you are dehydrated, your body becomes less able to maintain adequate blood pressure, deliver sufficient oxygen and nutrients to your cells, and do away with waste.

Helpful Hints for Staying Hydrated

Drink a glass of water with each meal.

Take water breaks instead of coffee or soda breaks.

Drink water before, during, and after exercise.

Drink sparkling water instead of alcoholic drinks at social events.
