How to add more Greens to your Smoothies

Smoothies are a great way to pack in a lot of nutrients in one glass. If green veggies aren’t really your thing, then adding them in a smoothie filled with fruits and other ingredients is a great way to get the nutrients you need! H3’s Healthy Kitchen Executive Chef Karla has come up with a system that will help you get creative when adding greens to your smoothies. Pick and choose from each category to create a well balanced, nutritious and delicious smoothie every time! 


Step 1: Choose your Greens: Greens

  • Spinach
  • Arugula  
  • romaine
  • Kale
  • Collard Greens
  • Chard
  • Dandelion Greens

Step 2: Choose your Liquid Milk

  • Coconut Water
  • Cold Tea
  • Almond Milk
  • Water
  • Soy Milk
  • Coffee
  • Skim Milk

Step 3: Choose your Fruit Mango Slices

  • Banana 
  • Avocado
  • Mango 
  • Apple
  • Grapes
  • Cherries
  • Figs

Step 3: Choose something Extra Oats

  • 1-1/2 scoop Whey Protein Powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon Flax seeds, ground
  • 1/2 tablespoon Chia Seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Nut Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Oats

Extra Tip:

Mix the greens and liquids before adding fruit or extras to reduce the amount of green “chunks” in your smoothie!
