Posture is the foundation for moving well. Healthy Posture leads to healthy movement – reducing aches and pains in everyday life. When trying to reach healthy neutral posture start with your feet and work your way up to your knees, pelvis, back, and head.

 Steps to finding your healthy posture:

Lining up the Legs

  1. Shift weight towards your heels
  2. Gently grip the floor with your toes
  3. Relax your knees (Your knees should not be locked in.)

Lining up the Spine

  1. Gently engage your glutes
  2. Gently engage your abs (To find your abs, place your hands on your tummy and cough. Those coughing muscles are your abs.)

Lining up the Shoulders

  1. Start with palms facing the ceiling and arms straight out to the side
  2. Rotate thumbs upward – backward – then downwards until you feel the muscles in your upper back turn on
  3. Gently keep your back engaged as you relax arms down to side
