Spoonful of Nutrition: Unfollow Unhealthy Recipes

JumpStart your nutrition goals by changing the way you engage with food.  “We engage with food all day,” said Felicia Spence, H3’s Registered Dietitian. We engage with food on TV with commercials, in magazines with ads, and now we are exposed to food on social media. Facebook is a very popular social media outlet and is yet another place we engage with food. There are hundreds of recipe videos at your fingertips through this outlet and it is important to pay attention to which recipes you choose to “follow.”

If the recipes you are engaging with are only the “quick and easy” highly palatable and highly processed foods, then it is time to re-evaluate how they are affecting your nutrition choices. “A great tip to change the way we engage with food is to click “unfollow” on these Facebook pages that have these types of recipes,” said Felicia.

Listen to Felicia Spence’s tips for choosing healthier eating choices through social media in her Spoonful of Nutrition video below. For more great recipes and tips visit our website
