It’s common knowledge that a consistent yoga practice has many physical, mental & emotional benefits. However, professional athletes and pro golfers are now realizing that practicing yoga can substantially improve their game. In fact, it has been said that doing yoga is one of the fastest and most effective ways to achieve noticeable improvement in one’s golf game. Improvements include:
- Quieting the mind for concentration, focus, and relaxation which is the best preparation for each new shot.
- Improves flexibility by loosening up tight muscles, which allows for a better range of motion and a more powerful swing.
- Enhances balance and stability which improves a golfer’s center of gravity and their swing.
- Improves mobility which allows golfers to play better, longer, with more confidence and increased enjoyment.
- Increases strength and length which helps with body symmetry, balance, and alignment through the swing to increase power.
Located on an island known for its pristine golf courses, Hilton Head Health thought it only natural to develop a golf and yoga retreat with the goal of offering avid golfers an opportunity to play their favorite sport while improving their game through the practice of yoga.

Marty will lead you through yoga classes that have been designed specifically to help you improve your golf game, and Robert will train you to have the mind of a champion. Also, both Marty and Robert will accompany you on the golf course to help analyze your game and give you tips for elevating your performance.
With plenty of sand and water hazards, the Clipper Course may be the most difficult of the nines at Ship Yard Plantation. This George W. Cobb design, built in 1970, requires a good long game and a soft touch around the greens.
The Barony Course was designed by George W. Cobb in the early 1960s and was one of the first courses on Hilton Head Island. This is a course where accuracy, not length, is paramount.
Golf course architect Rees Jones used the natural landscape of Port Royal Sound to create an inspiring course that combines challenge with a sense of fair play. The course rewards and tests golfers of all skill levels.
This course is both the crowning achievement of famed designer Pete Dye and design consultant Jack Nicklaus, and a perennial favorite among PGA TOUR players, as it places a premium on finesse, imagination, and shot-making, rather than strength.
